Who We Are
Women Empowerment & Leadership Alliance (WomenELA) is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening women’s access to justice, safety, and equitable participation in all areas of public life. We bring together leaders, experts, and partners across sectors to dismantle structural barriers, promote inclusive leadership, and create violence-free environments where women and girls can thrive.
Our Mission
To advance gender equality by equipping women and girls with the leadership capacity, legal protection, and systemic support needed to participate fully, safely, and effectively in civic, economic, and public spheres.
Our Vision
A world where every woman and girl can exercise her rights, shape decisions that impact her life and community, and live free from violence, discrimination, and injustice.
Our Approach
We create lasting impact through three integrated pathways:
Inclusive Leadership Development
Building the confidence, skills, and visibility of women and girls to lead in public life, advocate for their rights, and shape equitable institutions.
Justice, Safety & Rights Protection
Addressing legal, social, and structural barriers that limit women’s access to justice.
We support community-driven solutions, promote safety education, and advance policy reforms that safeguard women’s dignity and rights.
Cross-Sector Collaboration & Advocacy
Partnering with governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector to advance gender-responsive systems and accelerate collective action toward equality.
Our Focus Areas
WomenELA’s work centers on priority themes that align with global commitments to women’s rights, including:
Access to justice and legal empowerment
Focused on helping women and girls understand their legal rights and access basic legal information and support when needed, strengthening their ability to protect themselves.
Safety, protection, and violence prevention
Addresses the safety risks women and girls may face, providing education, guidance, and supportive resources to help them recognize threats and stay safer in daily life.
Inclusive and equitable leadership
Provides opportunities and resources for women to build leadership skills, encouraging more diverse voices to participate in decision-making and influence positive change.
Civic and public participation of women and girls
Encourages women and girls to express their perspectives, engage in public discussions, and take active roles within their communities and society.
Systemic change through policy advocacy and cross-sector partnerships
Raises awareness of the structural barriers affecting women, promoting dialogue and collective understanding to support a more inclusive and equitable environment.
